Description

:iconchancel-of-mythos:
I apologise in advance, I've only been to Greece twice in my life and I don't know anything about it, but pegusi are Greek so... I'll try ;__;
Ugh the colours on my tablet look so different than my laptop.  If you're seeing this very yellow....sorry ^^;  I don't know why.  Also idk what's up with his leg and hips, anatomy abandoned me apparently...
Pegasus is not the most original mythological creature but I really wanted to draw wings heh.  And I like Pegasus.  I don't know why I picked a horseform though, I can't draw horses at all.
I do know horses don't have cloven hooves, but I grew up reading a lot of fantasy books and fell in love with the idea of cloven-hooved unicorns and pegasi.  And I figured since I was totally butchering equine anatomy anyway, why not?

Abilities : Recruit

Currently Vlassis has no offensive abilities whatsoever.  To make up for this, he is trying to learn to wield a spear

Swift Wings
(And when he began to roam, his father gave him Pegasos who would bear him most swiftly on his wings, and flew unwearying everywhere over the earth, for like the gale he would course along -- Hesiod, Catalogues of Women Fragment 7)  When the ability is activated, Vlassis' flying becomes faster and more agile and he does not tire out as easily.  It's very good for running away.  He cannot use any other abilities while this one is active.  His speed and endurance receive much higher boosts in True Form, while his agility receives a higher boost in Fated Form
Available : True Form, Fated Form.

Spring Stomp
(Pegasus, offspring of Neptunus and the Gorgon Medusa, who on Helicon, a mountain of Boeotia, opened up a spring by striking the rock with his hoof - Pseudo-Hyginus, Astronomica 2. 18)  Vlassis stomps his hoof on the ground and calls forth a spring of fresh, clean water.  A mostly useless ability, but at least nobody will die of thirst while he's around.  The spring is purer when in Fated Form, but stronger when in True Form.
Recruit Level: Spring height in true form goes as high as 10cm in a good location.  The spring dries up after a few hours.
Available: True Form, Fated Form

Myers Briggs Personality Type

Turbulent INFP - INFPs tend to be private individuals with a strong moral code and a very deep sense of empathy.  They are deeply committed to things that are positive or good and may be inspired to make extraordinary sacrifices in attempts to acchieve their ideals.  Adaptable, imaginativve and enthusiastic about their "causes", they are not particularly known for logic and often retreat into fantasy worlds in their own mind.
- Turbulent variation - Turbulent individuals are perfectionists, self-conscious, success-driven, care about their image

Personality

- Lazy : Vlassis' most glaring characteristic is his laziness.  His idea of a day well spent is one in which he gets to laze about and listen to music, read, and play video games all day, and he is usually seen with some pair of headphones or another.  He dislikes having to exert himself in any way, although if he knows that it is something that has to get done he will do it.  If it's not something that he personally finds urgent, he will often try to get out of it - although the extent of his trying is usally whining "I don't want to" and "Do I have to?"

- Pushover : He is a terrible pushover, and perseverance or guilt tripping will all most always get him to do what is being asked - within reason of course.

- Resentful : Vlassis tends to resent when someone gets him to do something, and then holds a minor grudge against them that he is very willing to stack more grudges on top.  However, he is prone to bottling his feelings and that includes irritation - he won't let on that he's angry and will do his best to pretend that everything is okay.  He also has a tendency to take things personally although that also goes into his bottle of suppressed irritation.  It takes until he is severely pissed off to snap and yell at someone, and will then proceed to feel guilty and avoid everyone for a few days.  It is very difficult for him to cut ties completely and not at least fake friendliness to somebody's face.

- Untrusting : Vlassis has major trust issues, and while he will usually talk and put on a friendly face for anybody it is hard for him to let people in fully and he doesn't easily make actual friends.  He has a fear of being betrayed, or expendable to friends, and as such usually will not let himself be vulnerable to people and tries to avoid 'bonding experiences'.  He is uncomfortable being in a crowd or an extended social situation, and gets irritable at whoever is responsible for his presence - including himself.

- Insecure : He is very insecure about himself and the way he fits in among people.  Because of this, he takes any perceived slight against him rather badly since he takes it to heart - even good intentioned critique.  He does not, however, let anyone know about any of this because that would be too much vulnerability.

+ Gentle : Vlassis is very gentle and will not quickly cause harm.  Especially not physical harm, but he also tries his best to be polite and friendly to people, although the success of this varies depending on whether he realises what he's about to say is impolite or not.

+ Protective : He is quick to stand up for people being bullied if he notices it, although he doesn't like being thanked for it, and if the bullies turn on him instead he usually ends up crying or yelling - althugh when it's crying, he tries to leave so that he can do it in private.

+ Imaginative : Vlassis is rather internal and spends a lot of time thinking about things and plans and designs for varioius things.  He values ideas over practicality, however, so most of his thoughts are fanciful and a stretch at best, and he doesn't share them.  He enjoys talk about what-ifs.  He prefers improvisation to strict plans, but won't usually bring up any ideas he has for a certain situation unless nobody else has any ideas at all.  His first plan, however, is always to avoid or run away from problems and most of his subsequent ideas are impractical, so it is probably for the best.

+ Helpful : He's generally pretty helpful when he's actually out among other people and happens to see someone in need of help, and will offer his aid.  He doesn't like it when people ask for help and don't actually need it though, and becomes somewhat irate, which he then bottles and puts in his 'grudge-list' against that particular person.

History

In the city of Réthymno, a entrepreneurial Mythos established guest-house exclusively for non-rogue Mythos as a place for them to feel comfortable while playing tourist in the beautiful city.  However, it soon became a hodge-podge live-in situation with several Mythos families living there permanently, while a few guests still came and went.  It was here that Vlassis grew up, his mother one of the first live-ins and a woman prone to enjoying herself.  His father was one of the guests who had been there for a two-week stay, and the two had had a passionate affair in that time.  Fatherless children were not uncommon in the house, so Vlassis was no oddity in that regard.  He grew up among many other children of varying ages, although his group were all within a year of him except for a couple that were both three years older and fancied themselves the ringleaders of the group.

Although never fully outright physically bullied, Vlassis was often the butt of the joke within his friend-circle.  His usually placid nature meant that snide remarks and mean jibes could be casually thrown at him 'in jest' as young people often do, and pranks that they would normally worry to pull because of the anger it would elicit were easily targeted at him.  Meanwhile, his tendency to be a pushover meant that they could foist their chores off onto him as long as no adults saw it, and then run off laughing to play with one another.  Vlassis would take all of this would a forced-smile and a lot of internal irritation, but it never occured to him that he was being treated badly.  As far as he was concerned, this was just the role he was in, so the irritation was felt toward that role rather than the children that put him there, and he honestly liked his friends and believed that they liked him in turn.

It was when he came into his inheritance as a Mythos that he saw things as they really were.  Being a pegasus, he was the only one among his friends who possessed the ability to fly and his friends sorely wanted to experience that.  They began treating him extra-kindly, hoping that when they eventually made their planned visit to the Sanctum once the youngest of them reached 18, he would give them rides around the skies.  It was a harmless wish, really, but it was important to Vlassis, as he was treated normally by then for the first time and he realised it was because they were hoping for something from him.  That led to several revelations on his part - he saw that he had not been treated the way he had because it was just the way things were, but because they had been purposefully acting that way toward him, and they had not acted that way toward each other.  He understood then that they had never really been his friends, and now they wanted to because he had something to offer.

None of this was the kind of earth-shattering realisations that Hollywood makes movies about, but it upset Vlassis deeply and he decided then that he needed to be away from these people.  In the night before they made their trip to the Sanctum, he said his goodbyes to his mother and went off down the road to where his father was waiting, letter in hand, to take him back up to Athens where he lived and worked with his human wife.

She treated him with the stilted politeness of someone who doesn't like you but knows it's not your fault, and Vlassis found he liked that far better than the friendship-at-a-price of the people he'd just left, so he was fairly happy there.  He lived there for around five years, completing a degree in Audio Engineering before bumming around the house in his pyjamas for two years, playing video games and mixing music for shits and giggles.

Then one day, his father got an assignment that took him out of the country for eighteen months.  Vlassis could tell that his step-mother was looking forward to this as a vacation with his father, and decided he'd leave them to it and go elsewhere.  He had already heard from his father's last visit to Réthymno that none of his friends had stayed in the Sanctum, deeming life as a Guardian far too troublesome, so he decided that now was the time to visit the fabled place.  He stayed in the empty house for four days before the food ran out and, deciding that going to the store was probably about as troublesome as anything else, Vlassis left that day.  He made his way to the Sanctum, and immediately fell in love.

It was not the Sanctum itself, with its lovely Citadel, that he fell in love with however.  It was the constant access to his other form, and, especially, to his ability to fly.  Vlassis loved the sky, and after two nights of wild joyous flights he decided that he would join the Keepers so that, even if he didn't get to move to the Sanctum, he would be able to fly on missions.  Having always been sensitive to the presence of other Mythos, he was excited to see the Seer class, as it seemed to involve very little actual fighting on his part.  So he signed up for training and crossed his fingers.

Trivia

  • His most prized possession is the first book he owned for himself, given to him by his father

  • He's very ticklish
  • He has a very healthy diet
  • He is tickled by pegasus figurines and has a collection
  • His favourite fictional character is the original Little Mermaid (not the disney version)
  • Instead of being up against walls, his bed is up against shelving so he can access his music, books, comics, and controllers without getting out of bed
  • He also keeps a small collection of rocks by the head of his bed to throw at the light switch, which is at the foot of his bed.  He's become rather proficient at hitting it
  • As far as Vlassis is concerned, humans are the bees knees.  After all, they gave the world electronics and comic books
  • He likes all music, but his favourite genre is Rap and Hip Hop
  • If he is irritated at someone for getting him to go out when he didn't want to but he has fun on the outing, he will stop being irritated.
  • He's actually taller than both of his parents
  • He's very wary of taking off his clothes in front of people
  • Memorization is not his forte and he is a very visual learner.  It takes him a lot of effort to get a B in anything, and he usually only tries when he's really interested
  • If he got into a situation in which his wings were at risk of being permanently damaged or destroyed, he'd sooner return to his sealed form and potentially die than let that happen
  • Speaks Greek and English
  • He thinks that he's a lot better than he actually is at lying
  • He's really really really bad at reading situations and is highly likely to get everything completely wrong lol
